BREAKING: Ojukwu To Be On N5000 Note

Well if you didn’t know it now you do: CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) has announced that five-thousand and two-thousand naira notes are scheduled to be in circulation soon. And its been confirmed that the late Ikemba, Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu is to adorn the five-thousand naira note.
I’m not an economist so this isn’t my turf, but this doesn’t seem to me like a good idea. I stand to be corrected though.

apparently all to have to do to get ur face on ur currency is to try to divide ur country. Such trash am almost insulted but i hv got tougher skin dan dat

  2. Christian · May 14, 2012

This good but i don’t think is wise…This domination of money is too high and it will bring a rapid fall in our naira making it valueless..It would be very wise if CBN could give consideration to it…Thanks and God bless my lovely country Nigeria..

    • Charles Umeh · May 14, 2012

its very gud bcos it will reduce the size of money wen carying, our money loose value due to fuel price increment,if a litre goes down to 40 naira, everytin will change, even coruption, bcos d price is high due to coruption.

  3. Briggs Patrick Alexander · May 14, 2012

CBN Į̸̸̨§ still as confused as ever.

  4. Cool Hero · May 14, 2012

Where are we going in 9ja?

  5. Charles Umeh · May 14, 2012

its a welcome idea, since Nigerians av realised wat a great personality he was

  6. Onyekachi Monday · May 14, 2012

Having the 5000 note is good even smaller countries do have it.It cant bring corruption, only corrupt mimds breeds corruption not naira notes

    • dkstan28390 · May 14, 2012

And you don’t think such a move would devaluate the weak naira further?

  7. Efe Diamond · May 14, 2012

Is not really a good idea. Nigeria money will be meanless

  8. Chioma Chukwuma · May 14, 2012

This is a bad idea. Our money value will decrease. Rather let Late Ojukwu be on the two thousand naira note. It’s manageable

    • Emmanuel Ose Black · May 14, 2012

Yea and currency denomination isn’t the problem or our country, if the country want to honor a past hero there are verities of ways to do so, am not against putting Odumegwu Ojukwu’s head, but not only putting his head in currency i see that as a nasty excuse for them to increase a currency denomination to 5k, trust our politicians they have a personal interest at that.

  9. Obiora · May 14, 2012

May god accept the heart of our eze ndi igbo amen

  10. Oluwole mayowa · May 14, 2012

Nigeria govt should not introduce 2000 and 5000 naira note 4 now because going to devalue our money

  11. peejayxclusive · May 14, 2012

Bravo! Thats a very good idea. Am not sure the 5000naira note will be in existence, keep deceiving yourself

  12. Josiah Chibuike Paul · May 14, 2012

I think, it’s not bad for Him to be in our currency, but we’ ll consider our naira value first as a Nation.

We Have leaders but the have urgly hand writting, wat will de poor say about dis introduction of 2000 nd 5000 to said de fack we de poor are not happy at all,we cannot change wat is in ur mind becous we are nothing….is like does who are dead are going to be better than does great ones on who are still living.

  16. Onongaya John · May 14, 2012

This will not do good to Naria, more it will reduce the value of the naria. And cost more inflation. The naria is one of the week currence this will kill it the more. Please we are looking for how to strent the naria .

  17. Ogechi. P. A. Anunne · May 14, 2012

well is a very good idea for odumegwu ojukwu to be motalize and remember in nigeria currency, i know why the CBN is doing this so the world n nigerians will think we are one, but atfaras trabalizen is there it wouldn’t work . if it is true the CBN has decide to motalize ojukwu as a hero he is by putting him in #5000 note, i think that’s a welcome development.

  18. Bassey · May 14, 2012

There are things that are better left the way they are : when we begin to bastardise our currency we will surely get to the ‘enviable’ stage when a loaf of bread sells for one thousand naira or better still five thousand. People will neatly package one million naira into a brown envelope yet there will still be room for more. Why not make one million naira notes at once?it will be easier for theives to carry around

  19. Charles Steady · May 14, 2012

I like d type of money its ok,bt it will make our money valuless, bt all im sayin is dat its ok nd it will make us carryin any amount of in our pocket..i love my conutry nd i will serve it… Steady man

  20. Awuka francis · May 14, 2012

It is very good if we can understand and maintain it with out any viollence, b/c ojukwu is a herro and should b respected by pasting his name on dat five thousand naira thanks and God bless our country nigeria.

  21. adewale dudu · May 14, 2012

What a mess, where is our leaders taking us to in this conutry…I believe the CBN are not wise euogh to know what is next to be done…..

  22. Omotosho omotunde · May 14, 2012

In my opinion as a fresh graduate of economics i believe d introduction of five k will negate d cashless policy of d cbn. D CBN’s cashless policy is reduce d amount of money in circulation. With dis currency more money will probably b in ciculatn. It means it will b easier to keep huge amount of money at home, in offices wthout been noticed. Money laundering will b on an increase. Inflation will set in and the value of money will b eroded. Five , ten and twenty naira will lack purchasing power. I completely disagree with dis policy. Although it is in d nature of economist to disagree.

    • Esetee · May 14, 2012

My brother thank you. I have been waiting for somebody to point out the cash less policy. Our leaders are confused and n think the best we can do is to pray for them.

It is no longer news that CBN plans to introduce N5,000 note by January 2013 .

The crux of the matter is the implication that this will have on our individual lives and national economy. One of the indices of a GROWING INFLATION, is the creation of Higher Local Currency Bill, NO matter what CBN or the Managers of our economy say, they know too well in their minds.
      Ask them in Zimbabwe!
We will soon be buying things now sold for about N3,000 – N4,500; for N5,000.00!
      It is terrible!
Why are we not emulating Ghana where they just redenominated their currency? Why can’t we do same to manage our economy?

The answer is clear; if we redenominate THEY will lose the money already stolen and kept abroad. For instance if we redenominate by cutting down two zeros, N1,000 becomes N10 while N100 becomes N1. In a similar way one dollar will exchange for N1.55k. Therefore $100m will be N1.5m. Naira will become stronger against many currencies and stealing money abroad will become unattractive.

Why are we going for higher denomination when CBN is spending billions to promote a cashless economy?

Join to say no to introduction of higher denomination of naira . Let’s save our economy. Pls rebroadcast untill it gets to their attention. Paste it on ur facebook wall, 2go, twitter, bbm, whatsapp etc until it gets to them. At least let us help them make decisions since they can’t make it on their own

  23. Muhammed · May 14, 2012

It is not considered wise that the cbn of Nigeria should put five thousand and two thousand naira notes in circulation when the already five hundred and one thousand naira notes have reduced in value.Although its portability is worth due consideration, its reduction in value,on the other hand, has to be given much thought. In a nut shell,i take a dim view of the cbn decision on the circulation of the two naira notes.

  24. Julius udoh · May 14, 2012

Am nt realy in suport of d idea of introducing 5000 n 2000 naira bt as a poor nigeria lyk me i cnt interfere bt i think our politicians hv a beta idea of dat ,in d case of whu his head will apear…….hmm….ojuku again….ah still pray 4 a beta Nigera

  28. Sammie Humphrey · May 14, 2012

It’s quiet interesting to know that the five thousand and two thousand naira note respectively are to be launched next 2013.Thou, am not an economist but I’ll appreciate if a photo of a old nigeria hero is put on each of the naira note. Do you think this new idea of Nigeria naira as it affects two thousand and five thousand naira respectively is going to launch a greater opportunity for political looters to pepetrate there hugly intentions? Please my fellow nigerians, comment on this. Thanks.

I sugest nigeria should not introduce two thousand & five thousand naira because this wil decrease the value of naira.

  31. Ani Fidelis.Ekene · May 14, 2012

This is good to hear but by using five naira to hundred naira as coins, am not in suport of that one and to have five thousand naira note as nigeria courency is good for me okay. And i suported to use ojukwu nnewi for that five thousand naira note. Thanks and God bless mi lovly mother Roseline Ani.

  32. Hady · May 14, 2012

My major Problem with the idea is that how can u put the face of a man that purged dis country into 3 and half years of doesn’t just make sense.checking the other notes, the faces are of those that we called ‘heroes past’ i doubt that applies for Ojukwu. His wife has already been appointed an ambassador so what more….if they wanna put a face they should remember the person that designed the National Flag..He a’int really living in a good condition(the last time i checked, that is) ..and the note itself is going to devalue our currency. with the current problems in Nigeria, what we need is security not any useless note.

  33. DRAY · May 14, 2012

Its S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴͡ unfurtunate that cbn has fanaly given IA̶̲̥̅ yes to what i will call an insane idea.
The questIt hurts ♍ƺ S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴͡ much when i look at the present situations the befell nigerians. Look aat the problem of I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ security ( caused by the boko haram sect ), look at the the vast increasing inflation, also take IA̶̲̥̅ look at whats happening at the oil and power sector, the poor citizens are not left out wid hell of numerous problems ( unemployment and low standard of living )

Yet CBN chose to invest such amount of money towards what will bring nothing but regrets to the country and nigrians as IA̶̲̥̅ whole and our S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴͡ called leaders gave concent to such idea?

Wuldnt it be better if this strenght and money wasted on this shit, be allocated towards solving the problems that befell nigeria?
Wuldnt it be wise if our S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴͡ called leaders invest their time, strenght and money towards the insecurity possed by the little boko haram sect?
Wuldnt iet be appreciated by we nigerians, if our governments takes their time to draw IA̶̲̥̅. Map abt IA̶̲̥̅ better tomorrow where there ȋ̝̊̅§ IA̶̲̥̅ high standard of living and high level of security to all nigerians

NIGRRIANS!…….we have more to think of, we have more dreams to make reality. S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴͡ let wake up say №! This and also let them know that if they dont have brain as IA̶̲̥̅ civilised leaders,we the citizens DO!……..AND ALSO, the future of this great nation ȋ̝̊̅§ I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ our hands

I think it’s gud bcos accordin to d gud quallities of money it states that, any comodity that serves as money must be in such that it can be easily transmisible. So their’s notting wrong of creatin #5000 note. Naija keep it up.

Its said that what elders will see y sitin down, children won’t see even y standin. The note is gud jst dat ojukwu is a threat 2 it. We hav d likes of yar’ adua and the rest 2 use instead of terorists.

The idea of introduction of 5000 note is not a bad idea. Some people like the idea but because of the man in the note makes them dislike it. Our conutry is inneed of many things, there are some grauget outside there serching 4 work, some poor widows, orphans, the sick people and others in need of. Some government school the fees is more high than piravet school, so am saying that the 5000 note should be introduce but two people should be put om the note, people like CHUKWUEMEKA OJUKWU & TAIWO AKUKUMI i love u my fellow nigerians, let join hands and make NIGERIA a better country, so that we can fight against berberry and couruption thanks.

  43. jeff · May 14, 2012

Our heros being a symbol in nigeria currency is not a problem but the problem is the mind of nigerians goods will now move from N1000 to N5000 as the federal govermnent of nigeria lacks the vision of implementing control price inflation and additional high cost of living will be high now

  44. Steve Malaysia · May 14, 2012

Why is this people doing all these to the young Nigerians, instead of bringing up the weight of our currency, they are busy killing the weight of our currency and melting down the countries economy….there is a better way to honor our hero’s,not by note.they should look at other countries.N5000 note….Nawooooo our economy is total down,
With all these,Are we still the giant of Africa….?
